The quote was a part of the vice governor of Aceh’s, Muhammad Nazar, speech given in the opening of an extravagant green Conference, Environmental Education and Exhibition held on  July 2-3, 2007.The government of Aceh together with Badan Rehabilitasi and Rekonstruksi (BRR) or Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Executing Agency of NAD-Nias and other 11 agencies within the spirit of rebuilding Green Aceh as literally shown in the event theme:“Together Rebuilding Green Aceh: A Support For Sustainable Forest Management and Prosper Community”.

The event specifically aimed at exploring ideas and establishing an access for the public in evaluating the forest management and brainstorming problem solutions for sustainable for Aceh forest sustainable management. It was a response to governor’s moratorium logging declared on June 6, 2007, a start to place solid foundation for strategy in preserving Aceh’s forest in realizing Aceh as Green Province , a wish of the Aceh government in the beginning of reconstruction effort.

Although the event issue main theme aimed at strategizing Aceh forest preservation, yet in a greater context the event aimed at increasing the public awareness that everyone has capacity and skill in contributing to realize Green Aceh. Furthermore, it was also aimed at educating the children about the environment and what they can do to make their surrounding green through green exhibition and environmental education. The event attended by not less than 1000 people.

The green coast implementing partners, Wetlands International Indonesia Programme (WIIP) and WWF-Indonesia’s booth visited by not less than 500 people, as well as green coast local partner, Yayasan Gajah Sumatera (Yagasu) made a profit from the selling of women groups’ handicrafts activities. WIIP field staffs were busy handling questions from people seeking advices on mangrove planting. From the event the Green Coast attained coverage from a national media, Suara Pembaharuan, profiling coastal rehabilitation by re-establishing coastal forest in Lam Ujong (Aceh Besar District) project site.
